Procedure:
- There are a bunch of fun things you can do with the Thesaurus in Word 97, but I want to make it clear that these are NOT EGGS because they follow the expected behavior of the program. I will demonstrate:
- In a document, type "I'd like to see you naked".
- Highlight the phrase and select Tools->Thesaurus (or type shift-F7)
- It will suggest the phrase "I'll drink to that" as a synonym.
- You'll get the same answer for things like "I'd like to see Bill Clinton resign", "I'd like to see Bill Gates dead", or any phrase starting with "I'd like to..."
- That's because this is EXPECTED BEHAVIOR.. if the thesaurus doesn't know an actual synonym, it shows you the closest alphabetical phrase it knows about.
- It might be wierd, it might be funny, but it's not something the programmers hid inside the program.
- Another common phrase to do this with is "unable to follow directions".
- Enjoy!
